CVE-2026-23144 is a Linux kernel vulnerability in the DAMON sysfs subsystem, in mm/damon/sysfs. The flaw occurs when creation of a DAMON context sysfs directory fails after the attrs directory has already been created. In that error path, subdirectories under attrs are not properly cleaned up, leaving stale sysfs directory objects allocated. The result is that the DAMON sysfs interface can become nearly unusable until the system is rebooted, while kernel memory associated with the unremoved directories is leaked. The fix adds proper cleanup of the attrs subdirectories when context directory setup fails.
