A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel macvlan subsystem arises from incomplete error recovery in macvlan_common_newlink(). When source-mode macvlan creation adds source-MAC entries to an existing lower device's macvlan port, then device registration fails, the failed device is freed while its private macvlan data remains referenced by the port's source-vlan hash. Subsequent packet processing in macvlan_forward_source() can dereference the stale reference when traffic matches the configured source MAC address. The upstream fix flushes source entries on the relevant macvlan-port destruction error path regardless of the creation-state value.
