CVE-2026-26717 is a timing side-channel vulnerability in OpenFUN Richie (LMS) within src/richie/apps/courses/api.py. The sync_course_run_from_request function verifies an HMAC signature using the non-constant-time equality operator (==) rather than a constant-time comparison. Because the comparison may return earlier on partial mismatches, an attacker can measure response-time discrepancies across repeated requests to iteratively infer/forge a valid signature, enabling authentication bypass for requests protected by this HMAC verification logic.
