CVE-2026-28514 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability in Rocket.Chat affecting versions prior to 7.8.6, 7.9.8, 7.10.7, 7.11.4, 7.12.4, 7.13.3, and 8.0.0. The flaw exists in the account service used by the ddp-streamer microservice. A missing await keyword in an asynchronous password validation call causes the application to evaluate the returned Promise object rather than the actual boolean result of password verification. Because the Promise object is truthy, authentication can succeed regardless of whether the supplied password is correct. As a result, an attacker can authenticate as any user account that has a password set, provided the attacker knows or can guess the username.
