CVE-2026-31419 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel bonding driver's bond_xmit_broadcast() function. The function clones a socket buffer for member interfaces while reusing the original buffer for the last member. Concurrent member-interface attachment or removal can change which interface bond_is_last_slave() identifies as last during RCU-protected iteration. Consequently, the original buffer can be consumed twice, causing a double-free and subsequent use-after-free. A demonstrated failure occurs in skb_clone() and can crash the kernel, resulting in denial of service.

A race condition in the Linux kernel's bonding broadcast transmission function can cause a socket buffer to be double-freed, resulting in use-after-free and a kernel crash. The advisory rates it High, with a CVSS v3 score of 7.0 and a local attack vector requiring low privileges and high attack complexity. The fix stabilizes last-slave selection using an index comparison against a pre-snapshot slave count. Echo recommends updating linux and related packages to version 6.1.187-1 or later.
