CVE-2026-31721 is a resource-lifetime vulnerability in the Linux kernel USB HID gadget driver, f_hid. The hidg_bind function reinitializes wait queues registered through poll_wait even when those queues still contain epoll entries. Unbinding and rebinding the USB Device Controller while an open HID gadget descriptor remains registered with epoll can therefore corrupt list bookkeeping when the descriptor is subsequently removed from epoll. With CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST enabled, this sequence produces a list_del corruption report in remove_wait_queue through ep_remove_wait_queue. The fix moves wait-queue, list, and spinlock initialization from binding to function-instance allocation.
