CVE-2026-3201 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Wireshark's USB HID protocol dissector affecting Wireshark 4.6.0 through 4.6.3 and 4.4.0 through 4.4.13. The flaw is in the USB HID report descriptor parsing path, specifically the parse_report_descriptor() function in packet-usb-hid.c, which fails to enforce an upper bound before growing an internal array with wmem_array_grow(). Crafted HID report descriptor data containing malicious USAGE_MINIMUM and USAGE_MAXIMUM values can cause excessive sequential memory allocation and very large iteration ranges during parsing. The vulnerable input can be delivered either through malformed USB HID traffic or through a crafted packet capture file, resulting in memory exhaustion while Wireshark or TShark dissects the data.

A memory exhaustion vulnerability in Wireshark's USB HID protocol dissector that can cause excessive memory consumption when processing malformed packets or malformed packet trace files.
A denial-of-service vulnerability in Wireshark caused by improperly controlled sequential memory allocation in the USB HID protocol dissector, leading to memory exhaustion.
A denial-of-service resource exhaustion vulnerability in Wireshark's USB HID dissector where parse_report_descriptor() can be forced by a crafted capture file to allocate excessive memory due to missing bounds checks on usage range expansion.
