CVE-2026-33356 affects Meari IoT Cloud MQTT Broker deployments running EMQX 4.x. The vulnerability is a broken access control condition in MQTT subscription authorization: while the broker reportedly enforces publish restrictions, it does not enforce equivalent subscribe authorization at per-device scope. As a result, an authenticated low-privilege CloudEdge account can subscribe to global wildcard topics and receive telemetry and notification messages for devices not owned by that user. Reported observations indicate this exposed real-time device notifications across the shared platform, with the researcher stating that a single account could observe messages from thousands of devices on a regional broker within minutes.
