CVE-2026-33548 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) 2.28.0. The flaw is caused by improper escaping of tag names retrieved from History when rendering Timeline content in my_view_page.php. Specifically, when a tag that has been renamed or deleted is displayed from historical data, the tag name is not safely encoded before being inserted into HTML output. This allows an attacker to inject HTML into the Timeline view and, where Content Security Policy settings do not block script execution, to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the victim's browser. The advisory notes a code-level workaround of wrapping $this->tag_name with string_html_specialchars() in IssueTagTimelineEvent::html(), which is consistent with an output-encoding failure in the tag rendering path.
