CVE-2026-34976 is a critical authorization bypass in Dgraph’s GraphQL administration API. In affected versions prior to 25.3.1, the administrative restoreTenant mutation is omitted from the authorization middleware configuration in admin.go. Unlike the related restore mutation, which is protected by Guardian-of-Galaxy authentication and associated administrative controls, restoreTenant executes without authentication middleware. This allows a remote attacker to invoke the mutation anonymously and supply attacker-controlled restore parameters, including backup source locations, local file access paths, object storage credentials, encryption key file paths, and Vault credential file paths. Successful exploitation can cause Dgraph to restore attacker-selected data over the existing database, access server-side files through local path handling, and issue outbound requests to attacker-chosen or internal network resources, resulting in database compromise, file disclosure, and SSRF. The vulnerability is fixed in Dgraph 25.3.1.
