CVE-2026-35216 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability in self-hosted Budibase affecting versions prior to 3.33.4. The issue arises from chaining two Budibase components: a public webhook endpoint and the Bash automation step. An unauthenticated attacker can send a POST request to the public webhook trigger endpoint and supply attacker-controlled data in the webhook body. That data is flattened into the automation context and substituted into the Bash step's code field via Handlebars templating, after which the resulting command string is passed to Node.js execSync() without proper sanitization or escaping. If an administrator has created and published an automation that uses a Webhook trigger and a Bash step referencing webhook payload fields, the attacker can inject arbitrary OS commands and achieve code execution on the Budibase server. Successful execution occurs as root inside the application container.

An unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Budibase that allows attackers to trigger an automation containing a Bash step through the public webhook endpoint, resulting in code execution as root inside the container.
An unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in self-hosted Budibase deployments that allows external attackers to inject and execute arbitrary OS commands as root inside the application container by abusing a public webhook endpoint and the Bash automation step.
