CVE-2026-35518 is a remote code execution vulnerability in FTLDNS (pihole-FTL), the Pi-hole FTL engine component that provides an interactive API and generates statistics for the Pi-hole web interface. The issue affects versions 6.0 through before 6.6. The flaw is in handling of the DNS CNAME records configuration parameter, dns.cnameRecords. An authenticated attacker can supply newline characters in this parameter to inject arbitrary dnsmasq configuration directives. This configuration injection can be leveraged to achieve command execution on the underlying host system. The issue has also been associated with CRLF/newline injection behavior, but the primary security impact is OS command execution.
