CVE-2026-35560 is an improper certificate validation vulnerability in the identity provider connection components of the Amazon Athena ODBC driver before version 2.1.0.0. When the driver connects to external identity providers, insufficient default transport security can cause certificate validation to be performed improperly, creating a condition in which a man-in-the-middle attacker may be able to intercept authentication credentials. The issue is limited to connections involving external identity providers and does not affect connections made to Athena itself.
