CVE-2026-35603 is an improper default permissions vulnerability in Claude Code for Windows before version 2.1.75. Claude Code loaded machine-wide managed settings from a vendor-specific directory beneath ProgramData without validating the directory owner or access controls. Because the directory was not pre-created and access-restricted, a non-administrative local user could create it and place a malicious managed-settings configuration. Claude Code subsequently treated that configuration as trusted when launched by other local users. An attacker could configure a session-start hook to execute commands in each victim user's Claude Code session without approval.

A vulnerability affecting several AI coding tools that abuses application-trusted Windows ProgramData folders to place configuration files and enable a low-privileged attacker’s commands to execute in another user’s session without prompts or elevated access.
A Windows cross-user code-execution and local privilege-escalation vulnerability in Anthropic Claude Code caused by trusting a user-writable ProgramData configuration path. A low-privileged user could plant managed-settings.json containing an event-triggered hook, which would execute in the security context of any subsequent Claude Code user, including administrators.
