CVE-2026-3864 is a path traversal vulnerability in the Kubernetes CSI Driver for NFS affecting versions prior to v4.13.1. The flaw is caused by insufficient validation of the attacker-controlled subDir component embedded in the PersistentVolume volumeHandle. The driver parses this composite identifier and uses the resulting subdirectory value in filesystem path construction for NFS-backed volume management. Because traversal sequences such as parent-directory components were not adequately rejected, crafted volume identifiers could escape the intended managed subdirectory within the NFS export. During cleanup and deletion workflows, the controller could therefore operate on directories outside the authorized storage boundary, including deleting or modifying unintended paths on the remote NFS server.

A path-traversal vulnerability in the Kubernetes NFS CSI driver where a crafted volume identifier/volumeHandle can cause filesystem operations outside the intended managed directory on a remote NFS server.
A path traversal / boundary validation flaw in the Kubernetes CSI Driver for NFS that allows manipulated volumeHandle values to escape the intended storage subdirectory, potentially enabling cross-tenant file access and destructive filesystem operations.
A path traversal vulnerability in the Kubernetes CSI Driver for NFS (csi-driver-nfs) caused by unsafe use of attacker-controlled subDir data from volumeHandle with filepath.Join, enabling cross-tenant data access and, in some deployments, arbitrary directory deletion on Kubernetes worker nodes.
