CVE-2026-39825 is an inconsistent HTTP request interpretation flaw in Go's net/http/httputil ReverseProxy. When ReverseProxy is configured with a Rewrite function, or with a Director function that parses query parameters, it sanitizes forwarded queries based on parameters parsed by url.ParseQuery. ParseQuery enforces a total-query-parameter limit controlled by GODEBUG=urlmaxqueryparams=N, but ReverseProxy does not account for that limit during sanitization. An attacker can submit sufficiently many benign query parameters to reach the parsing limit, followed by an additional parameter that is not visible to the Rewrite or Director logic but remains in the request forwarded to the upstream service. This creates a parser differential between proxy security logic and the backend request handling.
