CVE-2026-40144 is a high-severity memory-corruption vulnerability in a kernel-mode component of BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management for Windows deployments prior to version 26.1.2. The flaw is caused by insufficient validation of input handled by the affected kernel component, allowing memory to be accessed outside its intended bounds. Although classified as an out-of-bounds read, successful exploitation can lead to kernel memory corruption and arbitrary code execution in kernel mode. Because the vulnerable code executes in the Windows kernel security context, exploitation can compromise core operating system trust boundaries on the affected endpoint.
