CVE-2026-40145 is a local insufficient access-control vulnerability in BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM) for Windows Deployment affecting versions released before 26.1.2. The flaw arises from the interaction between an EPM support utility and the product's tamper protection mechanisms. Under certain conditions, the protections intended to be applied to the utility process are not enforced as designed, allowing activity involving that utility to occur outside the intended anti-tamper scope. The issue does not provide an initial path to administrator privileges, but it can be abused by an attacker who already has elevated local access to influence the support utility and bypass intended protection boundaries.
