CVE-2026-40321 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in DNN (formerly DotNetNuke) affecting versions prior to 10.2.2. The issue allows a low-privileged user to upload a specially crafted SVG file containing script content. When the SVG is later viewed or clicked, the embedded JavaScript executes in the browser context of the visiting user and can target both authenticated and unauthenticated DNN users. The impact is significantly greater when the victim is a privileged or power user, because the script executes within that user’s authenticated session and can abuse authorized application functionality. Supporting reporting indicates the XSS can be chained with the authenticated /API/personaBar/ConfigConsole/UpdateConfigFile endpoint to write an ASPX backdoor or web shell to the server.
