CVE-2026-42049 is a code execution vulnerability in jadx, a Dex-to-Java decompiler. In versions prior to 1.5.6, jadx exports decompiled APKs as Android Gradle projects and inserts the AndroidManifest android:versionName value into the generated app/build.gradle Groovy template without proper sanitization. Because this manifest field is embedded into executable Groovy build script content, a malicious APK can supply a crafted versionName that escapes the intended string context and injects attacker-controlled Groovy code. When the victim opens or builds the exported Gradle project, the injected Groovy code is executed on the victim system.
