CVE-2026-42089 affects Yeoman Environment, which provides APIs to discover, create, and run generators and to control generator resolution. In affected versions 2.9.0 through 6.0.0, the installLocalGenerators() method installs missing local generator packages from caller-supplied package names without user confirmation. Specifically, installLocalGenerators() invokes repository.install() directly on package names derived from input passed by downstream consumers. If a downstream CLI or application feeds attacker-controlled project configuration into this code path, an attacker can cause unintended package installation during CLI bootstrap, which can then result in arbitrary code execution via package install-time or runtime behavior.
