CVE-2026-42281 is an unauthenticated server-side request forgery vulnerability in MagicMirror² affecting versions prior to 2.36.0. The flaw resides in the /cors endpoint, which can be abused by a remote attacker to cause the MagicMirror² server to issue arbitrary HTTP requests on the attacker's behalf. Because the requests originate from the server, the vulnerability can be used to reach otherwise inaccessible targets including internal network services, localhost-bound services, and cloud metadata endpoints. The vulnerable endpoint also expands environment variable placeholders in request data, which can expose server-side secrets stored in environment variables. The issue was fixed in MagicMirror² version 2.36.0.
