CVE-2026-42520 is a path traversal vulnerability in Jenkins Credentials Binding Plugin affecting version 719.v80e905ef14eb_ and earlier. The plugin does not properly sanitize file names associated with file and zip file credentials. An attacker who is able to provide credentials to a job can exploit this flaw to cause files to be written outside the intended location and into arbitrary locations on the Jenkins node filesystem. In deployments where a low-privileged user is permitted to configure file or zip file credentials for a job that runs on the built-in node, the arbitrary file write condition can be leveraged to achieve remote code execution.
