CVE-2026-42796 is an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Arelle Web Services affecting versions before 2.39.10. The flaw exists in the /rest/configure REST endpoint, which accepts a plugins query parameter and forwards it to the plug-in manager without authentication or authorization checks. By supplying a remote HTTP or HTTPS URL that points to attacker-controlled Python plug-in code, a remote attacker can cause the Arelle webserver to retrieve and load that code into the running Arelle process. This results in arbitrary code execution in the context of the Arelle service.

An unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Arelle's web service configuration endpoint that allows remote plug-in references via /rest/configure, enabling server-side fetching of attacker-controlled Python plug-ins. The issue appears fixed by rejecting remote URL plug-in references.
An unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Arelle before version 2.39.10 via the /rest/configure REST endpoint's plugins parameter, which can be abused to make the server download and execute attacker-controlled Python code.
