CVE-2026-42811 is a critical vulnerability in Apache Polaris before version 1.4.1 affecting the Google Cloud Storage credential-vending path. Polaris generates short-lived downscoped GCS credentials by building a Credential Access Boundary containing a CEL condition intended to restrict access to the storage path of a single Iceberg table. The vulnerable logic derives the table path from namespace and table identifiers and inserts that path into the CEL expression without proper escaping. Because CEL string literals use single quotes, an attacker can supply a crafted namespace or table identifier containing a quote and additional URI-safe CEL fragments to terminate the intended literal and alter the expression logic. This can collapse the intended path restriction and cause Polaris to return delegated GCS credentials that are no longer limited to the requested table path, effectively broadening access across the configured bucket.
