CVE-2026-43163 is a Linux kernel vulnerability in the md/bitmap subsystem caused by a use-after-free race during array resize operations. The flaw occurs when bitmap_daemon_work() and __bitmap_resize() execute concurrently: the bitmap daemon iterates over bitmap->storage.filemap without holding the necessary lock, while the resize path can free the same backing storage through md_bitmap_file_unmap(). Because quiesce() does not stop the md thread in this path, write_page() can dereference pages that have already been freed, leading to a General Protection Fault. The issue was fixed by holding mddev->bitmap_info.mutex during the bitmap update to serialize access to the bitmap storage.
