CVE-2026-43279 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ALSA USB audio subsystem. The flaw occurs in the playback URB silencing logic used in implicit feedback mode before actual playback begins. In this path, the kernel assumed that received packets would always fit within the destination transfer buffer. When the capture-stream setup differs from the playback-stream setup, including cases caused by USB core maximum packet size limitations, this assumption can be violated. As a result, prepare_silent_urb() may copy more data than the transfer buffer can hold, causing an out-of-bounds write. The upstream fix adds a transfer-buffer size sanity check in prepare_silent_urb(), stops copying when received data would overflow the buffer, and properly reports the transfer error.
