CVE-2026-43279 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA USB-audio subsystem. During pre-playback silencing of playback URB packets in implicit-feedback mode, prepare_silent_urb() assumed that received packet data fit the transfer buffer. A mismatch between capture- and playback-stream configurations, including one caused by USB core maximum-packet-size constraints, can violate this assumption and cause copying beyond the destination buffer. The fix validates the transfer-buffer size, stops copying on overflow, and propagates the transfer error. It prevents the resulting kernel Oops but does not correct the underlying playback-stream inconsistency.
