CVE-2026-43502 (ZcopyReaper) is a local privilege-escalation vulnerability in the Linux kernel Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS) zero-copy send path. A zero-copy send may fail after user pages have been pinned but before its message is associated with the sending socket. The vulnerable rds_message_purge() logic infers zero-copy ownership from socket association rather than the zero-copy notifier. Consequently, an unqueued message can be released as ordinary payload storage while retaining zero-copy page ownership state, producing an ownership/lifetime error and use-after-free condition. The upstream correction uses the captured zero-copy notifier as the cleanup discriminator; for unqueued messages, it releases pinned-page accounting and notifier state before releasing payload-page references.
