CVE-2026-44174 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Kirby content management system affecting versions prior to 4.9.1 and versions 5.0.0 through 5.4.0. The flaw exists because Kirby did not properly validate model attributes used in REST API search and collection query endpoints. As a result, an authenticated attacker could cause collection queries to invoke arbitrary model methods instead of only safe attributes. This exposed methods that return sensitive information, such as password hashes and absolute filesystem paths, and methods that perform state-changing operations, including passwordless login as another user or deletion of queried models. The issue was addressed in Kirby 4.9.1 and 5.4.1 by removing insecure API search options and introducing protections to prevent unsafe model methods from being used in collection filtering and sorting.
