CVE-2026-44177 is a high-severity path traversal vulnerability in Kirby CMS versions 5.3.0 through 5.4.0. Lazy loading introduced in 5.3.0 resolved account directories using a supplied user ID without sufficient format validation and containment enforcement. Attacker-controlled user IDs could escape the intended accounts directory during user lookup. The flaw affects the unauthenticated authentication API, authenticated users API, and other application code that passes request-controlled email addresses or IDs to the user lookup function. Traversal can cause inclusion of PHP entry-point files in reachable directories and can be used to test whether arbitrary directories exist.
