CVE-2026-44890 is a resource exhaustion vulnerability in Netty's Redis protocol support, specifically in the RedisDecoder component of netty-codec-redis. In affected versions prior to 4.1.135.Final and 4.2.15.Final, the decoder can be driven into unbounded direct memory consumption when processing crafted RESP payloads that omit the required carriage-return and line-feed terminator. By sending malformed Redis payloads across multiple concurrent connections, an attacker can cause the decoder to continue accumulating state and exhaust the server's direct memory pool, ultimately triggering OutOfDirectMemoryError and preventing normal request processing.
