CVE-2026-44961 is an incomplete input validation vulnerability in Revive Adserver affecting versions 6.0.6 and earlier. In the XML-RPC API addUser method, validation rules that had been introduced as part of the fix for CVE-2025-55129 were bypassed or missing, allowing API users to create usernames that should have been rejected. By supplying crafted usernames through addUser, an attacker could register values that enable impersonation scenarios or act as a stored XSS payload when the username is later rendered in administrative or audit contexts.

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.
addUser method, to trusted administrators and tightly controlled sources only. Review and monitor recently created usernames for suspicious or malformed values, and reduce exposure of administrative views that render username data until the vendor fix is applied. No specific vendor workaround beyond limiting API access is provided in the available content.Patch, then assume compromise.
