CVE-2026-45137 is a logic error in anchor-lang affecting versions 1.0.0 through before 1.0.2. Anchor's TryFrom<&AccountInfo> implementation for Program<'a, T> used Pubkey::default() as a sentinel to distinguish the untyped Program<()> case from typed program validation. Because the Solana system program ID is also Pubkey::default(), accounts declared as Program<'info, System> were incorrectly handled like the untyped case and accepted any executable program account rather than strictly validating the real system program ID. As a result, Anchor programs that assumed the runtime enforced the identity of Program<'info, System> could be tricked into invoking attacker-supplied executable programs in place of the system program during CPI flows.
