CVE-2026-45253 is a FreeBSD kernel vulnerability in ptrace(PT_SC_REMOTE) caused by improper validation of parameters associated with the syscall(2) and __syscall(2) meta-system calls. The flaw skips a bounds check on the redirected syscall number, which permits out-of-bounds indexing into the kernel sysent table. A local attacker able to debug a process can leverage this condition to achieve arbitrary code execution in kernel context, even when the traced target process itself has no special privileges.

A FreeBSD vulnerability in the public advisory record; the content states it was independently found by Calif using OpenAI Codex, but does not describe the flaw type beyond inclusion in the FreeBSD advisory cluster.
A FreeBSD vulnerability covered by one of three advisories; the content indicates it was validated with a proof-of-concept local privilege-escalation exploit and independently confirmed by FreeBSD advisories.
A local privilege escalation vulnerability in FreeBSD ptrace handling where PT_SC_REMOTE skips a bounds check, enabling out-of-bounds sysent table indexing that can be chained into privilege escalation.
