CVE-2026-45495 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft Edge’s proprietary Chromium-based code, affecting versions prior to 148.0.3967.70. The flaw is tied to Edge’s feedback log processing functionality, where improper validation of attacker-influenced input allows path traversal during file handling and yields an arbitrary file-write primitive. Analysis of the patched build indicates that file-writing functionality present in the vulnerable feedback component was removed or hardened, and that the vulnerable interface failed to properly validate file paths before performing file operations. In exploit chains described for this issue, an attacker first gains access to a privileged Edge page context exposing the relevant Edge-specific API, then abuses the feedback component to write files to unintended locations. This arbitrary file write can be leveraged to achieve code execution on the underlying Windows system. The issue is specific to Microsoft Edge code paths and does not affect upstream Chromium-based browsers that do not include the vulnerable Edge functionality.

A Microsoft Edge path-traversal vulnerability in the feedback component that provides an arbitrary file-write primitive and serves as the final stage of a multi-bug exploit chain leading to Windows remote code execution.
A Microsoft Edge remote code execution vulnerability caused by improper path validation during feedback log file processing. Successful exploitation requires user interaction and can allow code execution in the context of the logged-in user.
A Microsoft Edge-specific remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft's proprietary Chromium additions that can be triggered by luring a user to a crafted webpage, potentially leading to full system compromise.
