CVE-2026-46056 is a Linux kernel Bluetooth vulnerability in the hci_event subsystem affecting the SSP passkey handlers hci_user_passkey_notify_evt() and hci_keypress_notify_evt(). The flaw is caused by insufficient locking around hci_conn lookup and subsequent field access: the connection object was accessed without keeping the hdev lock across the full lifetime of that usage, allowing the underlying hci_conn structure to be freed concurrently. This creates a race-driven use-after-free condition in kernel space during processing of Bluetooth SSP passkey-related events. The upstream fix extends the hci_dev_lock critical section to cover all connection usage in both handlers and preserves existing keypress notification behavior by routing early exits through a common unlock path.
