CVE-2026-46181 is a Linux kernel vulnerability in the RDMA/mlx4 subsystem, specifically in mlx4_srq_event(). The flaw stems from incorrect use of RCU for protecting access to mlx4_srq objects: while the radix_tree involved is RCU-safe, the mlx4_srq structure itself is not freed using RCU and is accessed outside the RCU critical section. In addition, the vulnerable path can process an event before the SRQ object has completed initialization. This creates a race involving partially initialized or improperly protected objects and can result in invalid access and kernel crashes. The upstream fix replaces the unsafe RCU usage with a spinlock, adds refcount_inc_not_zero() to avoid taking references on partially initialized objects, and moves refcount_set() until after full SRQ initialization.
