A vulnerability in the Linux kernel netfilter nft_inner component causes incorrect parsing of inner IPv6 packets in nft_inner_parse_l2l3(). When handling inner IPv6 traffic, ipv6_find_hdr() correctly walks IPv6 extension headers and computes the actual transport-header offset, but that result is then incorrectly overwritten with an offset corresponding only to the fixed 40-byte IPv6 base header. This creates a desynchronization in which inner_thoff points to the start of the extension-header chain while l4proto still reflects the real upper-layer protocol, such as TCP. The mismatch can allow crafted packets with IPv6 extension headers to cause transport-header interpretation inconsistencies, enabling transport-header forgery and undermining netfilter rule evaluation. The issue affects stable Linux kernel versions starting from 6.2.
