CVE-2026-46323 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel networking Generic Receive Offload (GRO) path. The flaw is in skb_gro_receive(), which could merge fragments from a source skb into a GRO skb without checking whether either skb was zerocopy and, specifically, without accounting for the SKBFL_MANAGED_FRAG_REFS state. When SKBFL_MANAGED_FRAG_REFS is set, the skb does not hold page references for the fragments recorded in shinfo->frags. Appending those fragments to another skb without correcting page reference counts can leave the destination skb referencing pages whose lifetime is no longer properly tracked, resulting in a use-after-free condition in kernel memory. The upstream fix changes GRO behavior so that skbs are not merged when either the source skb or the last skb in the GRO chain is zerocopy.
