CVE-2026-47427 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in GitHub MCP Server affecting versions prior to 1.1.0. The flaw is caused by a nil pointer dereference in the CompletionsHandler function in pkg/github/server.go, where params.Ref is accessed without first verifying that it is non-nil. A crafted JSON-RPC completion/complete request with a missing or empty ref value can trigger a Go runtime panic. Because the panic occurs before authentication or token validation, the vulnerable code path is reachable by unauthenticated clients that can send JSON-RPC messages to the server.
