CVE-2026-48598 is an improper output encoding and escaping flaw in the multipart serialization logic of the elixir-tesla HTTP client library. In affected versions, Tesla.Multipart.part_headers_for_disposition/1 constructs Content-Disposition parameters by directly interpolating caller-supplied values into quoted header fields without validating or escaping carriage return, line feed, or double-quote characters. As a result, attacker-controlled values supplied through multipart-building APIs such as field names, filenames, or other disposition parameters can break out of the intended quoted parameter context. A double quote can terminate a parameter value early, while CRLF characters can terminate the current header line, inject additional part headers, or, with an additional header break, prepend attacker-controlled bytes to the multipart part body. The issue also affects cases where filename values are derived from partially attacker-controlled paths, because the default filename derivation path does not remove CR or LF characters. The vulnerability affects tesla versions 0.8.0 through 1.18.2 and is fixed in 1.18.3.
