CVE-2026-49201 is a hardcoded cryptographic key vulnerability affecting Acer Wave 7 mesh routers running firmware T7c_GBL_1.01.000055 and earlier. The issue resides in the upload.cgi binary responsible for processing device backups, which contains a static AES encryption key. Because the key is embedded in the product, an attacker can decrypt protected backup data, modify its contents, and re-encrypt it into a form accepted by the device. This breaks the trust model for backup confidentiality and integrity and enables malicious alteration of backup material that can be restored or processed by the router. Reported abuse of this weakness includes insertion of persistent backdoor functionality through tampered backups.
