CVE-2026-49948 is a missing authorization flaw in the self-hosted server component of Mem0 affecting versions through 0.2.8. The vulnerable POST /configure endpoint allows modification of global LLM provider and embedder configuration. Although the endpoint checks that the caller is authenticated via JWT or X-API-Key, it does not validate whether the caller has an administrative or otherwise authorized role to perform global configuration changes. As a result, any authenticated user possessing a distributed API key can change instance-wide configuration and redirect all LLM and embedder traffic to attacker-controlled infrastructure. The malicious configuration is persisted to PostgreSQL, survives server restarts, and continues to affect all users and API keys on the affected instance. The issue was fixed in commit ae7f4062652df1376990221101d1adbb0819c973.
