CVE-2026-50292 is an improper escaping vulnerability in libinput-device-group, a libinput udev helper. A device's phys sysfs attribute is emitted into a udev KEY=VALUE property string without adequate sanitization. A local attacker able to create a crafted virtual input device can embed newline characters in the phys value to inject additional udev properties. Injecting a removal-command property can cause udev to execute an attacker-controlled command as root when the malicious device is removed. The issue affects libinput before 1.30.4 and versions in the 1.31.x branch before 1.31.3.
