CVE-2026-50642 is an improper output neutralization vulnerability in diff-so-fancy affecting versions through 1.4.10. The application sanitizes ANSI Select Graphic Rendition sequences but fails to neutralize other terminal control characters and escape sequences before rendering diff data to the terminal. As a result, carriage returns and non-SGR escape sequences such as OSC and CSI can be embedded in filenames, diff metadata, or file contents and then emitted directly during diff viewing. This allows attacker-controlled diff content to manipulate terminal rendering and user perception during review workflows.
