CVE-2026-5140 is a CRLF injection vulnerability in Pardus Update / Pardus affecting the pardus-update component. The flaw is described as improper neutralization of CRLF sequences and is present in SystemSettingsWrite.py, where user-controlled input is written into /etc/pardus/pardus-update.conf. In the reported exploit chain, newline characters were sanitized but carriage return characters were not, allowing an attacker to inject an additional configuration directive such as custom_sourcesd_path via a payload like 123\rcustom_sourcesd_path=/tmp/pwn.list. This can alter the APT source configuration consumed by the update mechanism. Supporting reporting also describes CVE-2026-5140 as part of a broader local privilege-escalation chain involving permissive Polkit rules and an untrusted search path in AutoAptUpgrade.py, ultimately enabling execution of attacker-controlled package installation logic as root. The CVE record states the issue affects Pardus Update from 0.6.3 before 0.6.4; supporting content also references broader Pardus version ranges up to but before 0.8.0.
