CVE-2026-52724 is an improper certificate validation vulnerability in kuma-dp in Kuma. In Universal mode, when connecting to an HTTPS control plane without a configured CA certificate, the dataplane component does not properly verify the control plane's TLS certificate before sending its authentication token. This allows a malicious intermediary or spoofed endpoint to present an untrusted certificate and still receive the dataplane authentication token. Successful exploitation can enable an attacker to impersonate the control plane to the dataplane and deliver a forged bootstrap configuration, resulting in compromise of the proxy.
