CVE-2026-52752 is a path traversal vulnerability in Ghidra's extension installer affecting versions before 12.0.2. The flaw is caused by improper validation of ZIP entry names during extension extraction, allowing traversal sequences such as ../ to escape the intended installation directory. The vulnerable code path is reported in the extension installation logic in ExtensionUtils.java, where archive entry names are used to construct output paths without ensuring the resolved paths remain contained within the target directory. By packaging a malicious but apparently valid Ghidra extension archive, an attacker can trigger arbitrary file writes outside the extension directory when a user installs the extension through the normal workflow. This is a classic Zip Slip condition and can be leveraged to place attacker-controlled content in locations that subsequently lead to code execution.
