CVE-2026-52754 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in Ghidra Server before version 12.1 when PKI authentication mode is enabled. The flaw resides in PKIAuthenticationModule.authenticate(), which is intended to validate a client-supplied signature over a server challenge using the private key corresponding to the presented certificate. In affected versions, signature verification is only performed when signature bytes are present; if a null signature is supplied, the verification path is skipped. The server then proceeds to resolve the submitted certificate subject Distinguished Name to a username and authenticates the session as that user. The issue is further amplified by the lack of binding between the certificate used during the mutual TLS handshake and the certificate submitted at the application layer, allowing certificate substitution. As a result, an attacker who possesses any valid CA-signed certificate trusted by the server can present another user's public certificate with a null signature and impersonate that user, including administrative accounts.
