CVE-2026-52943 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel networking stack's skbuff handling. The pskb_carve_inside_header() and pskb_carve_inside_nonlinear() helpers duplicate skb_shared_info using memcpy(), including the MSG_ZEROCOPY destructor_arg reference. The duplicated shared-info structure is not accompanied by net_zcopy_get(), leaving an unaccounted reference holder. When copied socket buffers are released, zerocopy cleanup decrements the shared ubuf_info_msgzc reference count without a matching increment, allowing that object to be freed while other transmit socket buffers still retain destructor_arg pointers to it. Subsequent socket-buffer release activity can dereference the freed object.

A Linux kernel use-after-free vulnerability caused by missing zerocopy reference-count increments in pskb_carve_inside_header() and pskb_carve_inside_nonlinear(). Premature freeing of ubuf_info_msgzc leaves live pointers in transmission buffers. A working proof of concept demonstrates local privilege escalation to root on a default kernel configuration. The listed Google kernel packages are fixed in version 18867.381.201 or later. The reported CVSS v3 base score is 7.8 (High).
A Linux kernel use-after-free caused by missing MSG_ZEROCOPY reference-count increments when pskb_carve helper functions duplicate skb shared-information structures. It is significant because it is reportedly reliably exploitable for local unprivileged-to-root privilege escalation on default kernel configurations.
